Es regnet in Strömen, aber an der Bushaltestelle steht Chrisoula mit einem großen Sonnenschirm, um die Gäste in Empfang zu nehmen. Chrisoula ist die Seele der Pension „Romantika“ – einer Pension mit zehn Zimmern. Sie führt die Herberge mit ihrer Tochter Maria. Maria hat in der Schule Deutsch und Englisch gelernt und von Reisen nach Deutschland und England geträumt. Sie heiratete jung und blieb an der Seite ihrer Mutter. Sie hat nun selbst zwei Kinder, und die Träume bleiben unerfüllt. Mutter und Tochter teilen sich die Pflichten und verwöhnen die Gäste mit Zuneigung und Fürsorge. Das Frühstück wird auf der Terrasse serviert. Erlauben es die Gäste, leisten Marias Kinder Gesellschaft. Das Olivenöl, das Chrisoula ihren Gästen mit auf den Heimweg gibt, stammt aus eigener Herstellung. Die meisten ihrer Gäste sind Chrisoula freundschaftlich zugetan und fühlen sich bei ihr wie zu Hause. Sie lieben es, für eine romantische Zeit das Leben ohne Luxus und gesellschaftliche Konventionen zu führen, und kehren jedes Jahr wieder zurück zu Chrisoula.
