The hippie movement as a peaceful rebellion of the youth was born in the 60s in Western societies. Long-haired and dressed colorfully, their supporters protested against the narrow-minded in their opinion and meaningless, only focused on wealth and consumption culture of their parents. Of their social constraints and taboos free view of life was often perceived by the older generation as a provocation. In fact, the flower children were in search of a more humane way of life, for harmony with the world and with himself Matala on the south coast of Crete was the center of the movement.
The photo book myth Matala captures in pictures and text, such as young people from all over the world at that time to lead a simple and happy life tried in the caves on the picturesque bay of Matala according to their ideas and to exchange their love & peace..
