(Deutsch/Ελληνικα/English)

Our documentary film production “EINGEBRANNT” (ENGRAVED – Women and their everyday resistance during the German occupation in Crete 1941-1945) shows history through a female perspective. In the interviews, Cretan women narrate the bombardment of their cities by German soldiers, the destruction and burning down of their villages and the executions of women, children and elders. They talk about the resistance in the mountains, about strong women who were left alone, their struggle for survival and their stance towards the conquerors. Besides the stories of the witnesses we want to show what hasn’t been narrated, through the medium of puppet theatre. In Crete we are collaborating with the puppet theatre group “Firdin Migdin” and the collective Obscura Lab.

With tenderness, emotional truthfulness and tragicomic humor tells „The olive tree“ the story of a young woman who takes off to attempt the impossible: a journey that leaves no one indifferent, least of all himself.

Alma is the top 20, rebellious and impulsive. All your love is her grandfather, who does not speak, since the family has sold the ancient olive tree against his will years ago, and threatens to slowly disappear in the mist of ages. Alma decides to act: She wants to retrieve the olive tree home, so as to satisfy the grandfather his greatest wish. But the tree is already potted symbolizing sustainability in the atrium of a Düsseldorf energy company.
